Hey everyone, hope you're fine and dandy on this crisp Sunday evening. Can you see any stars? I certainly can't. Maybe they'll come a'twinklin' later eh?
So, something odd happened. I went out last night, crazy young hooligan that I am, and I had a canny time. Got a few sneaky little pints in my belly and had some laughs before I then decided I was tired and needed my bed. Of course, its never that simple and taxi's aren't cheap, so I waited a little while until my friend's taxi arrived (spot on time, by the way, I was impressed with that) and shared the billio. Next morning, THIS VERY MORNING, INFACT, I woke up, and holy hell, when I go out of bed, I fell straight back in. It seems I've done something to my knee, and putting pressur on it or bending it results in a loss of leg-power and a surge of fairly annoying pain. I remember every second of the night out and know for a fact I didn't smash my kne with any kind of hard, metal objects and such, so God knows whats going on. I've been hobbling about all day like Quazimodo - less than fun, I assure you.
I got a new book on Saturday too, its 'Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley. I'm writing aout dystopian novels formy A-Levels, and according tomy bat-shit-crazy teacher, it'll be a good read. So far, I've read the two introductions that were included i this here Vintage edition. Outlook is good. Another of the dystopian novels I've read for the sake of both my English studies and for the sheer crack of awesome books is 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy, and that book ROCKS SO MUCH ARSEITS A LITERATURE-PIMP. Theres a film recetly been released hich I'll have to get as soon as its DVD'ed and then I'll tell you what I thought of it.
I thought I'd give you a very short extract of a short story I've written, since this post feels too short as it is. Its about an old dude who dies unhappy and can't go to Heaven until he understands why he was unhappy in life and until he accepts the truth of what really happened.
"A quick rush of colour took Edmond to a dark room, only for a second, but the sound of a muted squeal and the striking of skin told him all he needed to know. Another flash took him now to a park bench, where his mother sat with him in a pram. She cried, all alone with a young boy who didn’t understand staring at her, the look of infantile confusion upon his rosy cheeked face. When he she looked back at him, there was still love in her eyes.
Another flash, another room now. The heavens outside were raining down on the Earth, and Edmond’s mother sat with her two sons as they drew pictures of a sunny scene. They didn’t notice the bruise on her arm as she filled in the blue sky. Her smile was filled with love.
Forward again. The park once more and she was sitting at the bench watching her sons play football. They were engrossed, shouting for the other boys to pass, hoping with all their hearts for a goal, for the ecstasy of scoring. Her eyes were lost, they were somewhere else, and only came back when Edmond scored and looked to her for congratulations. The half-hearted smile and wave she sent to Edmond was lost on him, and he turned to receive pats on the back from his friends. She returned to her own world, rubbing her aching cheekbone."
And thats all for today, I hope you like the sound of the story, maybe let me know what you thought (if you have any means of doing so. If you're a stranger...hello there!)
Thanksaaa,
Glen.

A complaint AND a little review. Oh yeah.
Hello there, how you doing? Gooood to hear. Yeah, I'm decent cheers.
So, yesterday was pretty interesting. I take A-level drama, in case you weren't aware and/or didn't care, and as part of this course, my class see a prouction of Lysstrata (Synopsis - men are fighting, women are annoyed, women refuse to shag, men get ridiculous hard ons, men agree to stop fighting, hard ons go away) and it was...interesting. It was done by a company called The People's Theatre, and they are infamous for making terrible productions. But, dispite this, we went, we watched, and we left, scarred. It wasn't terrible, but there were some serious weak points - the main one being a dude dressed in army clotheswho could not act for monkey shit. I mean really, you'd get more emotion out of a vacant old dog. The girl playing Calonice was hot, and she made me love life for a short while. But then the old men and laies stripped off to reveal the worlds shittest body suits, and all of a sudden life was grim again. Oh well.
Something else interesting, you say? That not enough for you? FINE. I got home after our magical trip to the theatre and after I made a lovly slice of toast and had some super healthy high-sugar treats, I popped onto te computer. It was all going great, as it tends to, and then HOLY FUCKING SHIT LETS JUST STOP WORKING AND DECIDE THAT 70% OF THE PROGRAMS SHOULD STOP WORKING. I was perplexed and angry and frustrated, so I went to sleep. I did a system recovery and everything is fine now, but like, still. Really irritating. I would get a new laptop for my birthday in April, but screw that, I'm totally getting a DS XL because my DS Lite is now royally buttocked. I love XL things, especially XL burgers and jugs...
...you just get so much more orange juice in there.
Anyways, time for me to harp about some new music for a small while. This time 'round, its the album 'The Winter of Mixed Drinks' by Frightened Rabbit. I discovered this band a couple of months ago while on one of my regular music hunts, and I was immediatley in love, which isn't common for me - I'm damn well difficult to please. But this band really struck me because f just how much real emotion was in their music - youcan literally feel the swaying of feelings in the band as they play, its fantastic. So, I was pleased when I stumbled upon this bran new album while flicking my way through he sexy halls of the iTunes Music Store. Its a slightly livlier album than the second album, 'The Midnight Organ Fight', and so I was worried that this added energy and volume would distract from the raw power of the songs, but it really didn't. Theres alot of build up in the album, many of the songs take their time in adding layers to the music and it works really well as the Achoo-noo Scottish vocals soar through the lyrics. I particularly enjoyed 'FootShooter', which has a lovely section of vocal 'Oohing' going on, and that really floats my musical boat. 'Skip the Youth' is another stand out track; in one bit the backing vocals chant 'here come the drums' as the beat of the song picks up, and its fantastic. For fans of 'Mumford & Sons', this would be a decent purchase as the bands are fairly similar (I'm not a fan of M&S, by the way, jut to confuse you a bit). Amazon provides this album for the cheapest price as far as I'm aware.
AND THATS ALL HE WROTE. Nearly. Until next time,
Glen.

Its Been a Very Long Time.
Hello all, and to all a hearty hello.
Its been quite some time since I last made a blog - I got a little bit bogged down by work, and am now in the clear (and by that I mean I'm still bogged down by work but the desire to procrastinate is a powerful mistress). Hooray, I'm back and all that, but be warned - there ain't no way in hell I'm doing one a day. I'll just do 'em when I feel like it, but I promise there WILL be at least two a week. Okay? Deal? Right, good.
So I just found a really massive spoon in the dishwasher that I've never seen before in my life, and I'm fairly sure its a sign from God that I am indeed the big spoon. Thank you, big man in the clouds, it means alot to me. Now, could you ensure that our dishwasher does its fucking job properly? One of the bowls was still covered in some kind of rice shit, God knows how it escaped the gallons on water cascading around it angrily while the dishwasher liquid went "ROAR, COME HERE YOU FILTHY BASTARD" at it. I thank all that is good in the world for the invention of the dishwasher though, washing dishes manually is a royal, upper-cut pain in the testicles.
My music world is expanding slowly but surely, as it always has done. One of my new favorite bands is called Brand New. HOWEVER, I like them best in their album 'The Devil and God are Ragiing Inside of Me' because it captures a really powerful, epic sound that I love. I recomend any rock fans reading check it out its a great collection of tunes! I'm also loving my Kids in Glass Houses at the moment and have bought a ticket to see them live in May. I've checked out a few videos of thm playing live on Youtube, and it looks like they're gonna be a great band to witness in all their live, sweaty glory. My own band is doing very well also, thank you for asking sir and/or madame. Hopefully we'll have lots of lovely things for you to listen to in vast viral pleasure very soon.
THAT IS ALL FOR TODAY, FOR MY FINGERS ACHE AND MY MIND DOTH NUMBIFY. Talk to you later people, and do let me know in some way or form if you're reading this - I really fucking hate writing all this shit and not knowing wether a hundred people or no people are reading - the force tells me the figures are substancially closer to the latter....
Thats all folks,
The Glen.
